lingering thoughts

sometimes my mind wanders and I think about the park in Oliwa. I remember how beautiful it is in the day, and more importantly at night. The leaves that weave their way to the sky - their branches intertwined and laced together for decades and more and leading people along the many paths the park offers.

This last time I visited my mother and i hopped the tram from old Gdansk to the park and happened upon my grandmother. We attended mozart in the park and it was one of my favorite moments of my entire trip. I wish I could re-enact it over and over again.

sunday, sunday

Sitting here with the little Pedro and wee Henrietta and it's Sunday morning.
It's cool, I've already done the Sunday morning blog read and I have on a sweater and am drinking coffee and looking at the grey sky outside silently wishing I could stay home and spend all day with my two little pups, lying in bed drinking coffee and tea and watching jane austen and cohen brothers and reading here and there in between. But alas, I will shortly get my lazy butt off the couch, take the pups on a walk and commence the 'beautifying' process where I return to the glamorous world of the semi-living, intent on selling you a new concealer or lipstick.

I hope that m.'s tour is going well.
alright, off I go...

"sprung" cleaning

ok - waiting on my new couch to be delivered. We are really excited, but I have to admit that it's a little anti-climactic. We were supposed to get it almost 2 months ago.
I woke up and basically started my pre-fall cleaning. Let's just say that in the three months since we moved in, we have started quite the dust/fur collection under the old couch. That, and a few odd pairs of shoes.
Have spent the morning cleaning, dusting/sweeping, and re-arranging furniture. 'Vertigo' is on in the background, and now I am enjoying some oohlong tea getting my second wind and imagining how this place will look once I move the wee little table in the 'dining' room. Maybe photos later.

dreamworld

Ok lillie-bug - back to reality.

I embarked on a wonderful and amazing 12 day vacation to my mother's homeland.
Met familiar faces, time having long passed since our last meeting. Took many wonderful photos. Spent quality time with my mom, grandmother, cousin, aunts and other various relatives and family friends. Walk the cool damp/sunny streets immersed in a culture with only a very, very basic command of the language. Misused some phrases, mastered others - shook my head with an embarrassed and sheepish grin when understanding was lacking. Read, re-read and immersed myself in silly tween novels and up/down fuckery of chuck palahnuik. Boarded the plane to return home (tempted to smuggle the bee that was intent on travel, but decided against it at the last minute). Hours spent at airports, catching up on the last of my tween fantasy - came home to deluge in the desert and hit the ground running the next morning.

Back to the grind I have immersed myself in another series of books - these far more historical, gripping and fantastical - and also written for a grown adult - complete with small print and a commitment to grammer. love so passionate and burning it surpasses time and space, exists on a plane of reality unknown to most. *sigh*

say hello to my little house

So this is my soon to be new old house.

I should be signing the documents on Thurs. and will receive the keys on Friday. Nuts!
So, needless to say, my Vacation starts at 12:01 Saturday morning, also the day we will start packing the house so we can fill the one you see above.

A week of packing, unpacking, cleaning, shuffling and moving around. Crazy to think that when we moved into this place a little over a year ago I had just returned from Poland and was in a totally different place than now. Who would have thought?

new recipe

Tried to re-create an old Plaid-tastic dish.

Spicy Thai Peanut Dip/Sauce

1c. Reduced Fat Peanut Butter
2tsp. + sri racha chili sauce
1/2 one lime
1 clove garlic
pinch salt
tamari

pretty good. I will have to try it again and see how I would change it.
Maybe chunky peanut butter

a hitchcock blonde

Those who know me well know about my Hitchcock obsession.

Part of my college extra-curriculum was a class that studied Hitchcock, his films and his genius.
It was one of my favorite classes that I ever took and one of the most fascinating.

Two of my favorite gifts every bestowed upon me by MM were an extensive collection of Hitchcock DVDs and LPs of Torn Curtain and Vertigo he ordered from Germany - I love them!

I overused my blonde Marilyn wig about 4 years in a row at work during Halloween as Tippi Hedren in The Birds. Some people understood my costume right away, many did not. Those who got it appreciated my subtlety (I would like to think) with my choice of costume - down to the 'blood', tousled hair and clip on crows I found on sale days before Halloween 2003.

And today while patrolling the internet I found the little beauty you see above. The Birds Barbie.
Now considering that the novelty wore off of my MAC Barbie ( and hell, they are my bottom line) - I wonder if it's a waste of $45?

a little passive agressive?

I am currently completely obsessed with blogs. Blogs of all types but I have been bookmarking an abundance of design and style blogs from all over the world.

I locate new blogs to salivate over by looking at who I am lurking likes to lurk themselves - and that is how I located one of the funniest sites I have seen in a while.

I loved FOUND magazine, and this site is similar - though the 'found' items drip in passive/aggressive goodness.

Above is my favorite of all the notes.

Feeling feisty? Passive-Aggressive - go!
